Deon Cole addresses BAFTAs N-word controversy, Nicki Minaj’s MAGA turn during NAACP Image Awards 2026

Deon Cole addressed the BAFTAs N-word controversy and Nicki Minaj’s MAGA turn during the NAACP Image Awards 2026.

“Lord, we want you to bless our sister Nicki Minaj,” the comedian said as he closed his opening monologue with a prayer Saturday night.

“She’s been going through a lot lately and hasn’t been herself, Lord. I believe whatever’s in her ass is affecting her brain, Lord,” he quipped, referring to the “Anaconda” rapper’s butt injections.

“Take it out her ass, Lord. We bind that spirit in her ass, Lord.”

Cole, 54, then discussed the controversial BAFTAs moment in which Tourette’s activist John Davidson shouted the N-word as Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award onstage.

“Lord, before we go, if there are any white men out here in the audience with Tourette’s, I advise you to tell them they better read the room tonight, Lord. It might not go the way they thinketh. Whatever medicine they’re on, they better double up on it, Lord.

Page Six has reached out to Nicki and Davidson for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The “Barbie World” rapper, 43, recently shocked fans when she publicly aligned herself with President Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

In January, Nicki joined the president, 79, during the Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, DC.

“I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change,” the “Starships” emcee said onstage.

“And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more,” she declared.

As for the BAFTAs, Davidson yelled out the racial slur when the “Sinners” stars took the stage to present an award.

Lindo, 73, later told Vanity Fair at an afterparty that he and his 39-year-old co-star “did what [they] had to do” and kept presenting. However, he wished “someone from BAFTA spoke to [them] afterwards.”

Several stars slammed Davidson’s racial outburst, including Jamie Foxx, who called the act “unacceptable.”

“Nah he meant that s–t,” the “Ray” star, 58, wrote. “Out of all the words, you could’ve said Tourette’s makes you say that?”

Others defended Davidson, including “Baylen Out Loud” star Baylen Dupree, who said Tourette’s “doesn’t pull from hatred.”
