Texas news anchors forced to deny ill will after awkward on-air exchange: ‘You don’t listen to me!’

A storm nobody saw coming.

A Texas news anchor and meteorologist were forced to deny bad blood and apologize after trading jabs during an awkward on-air clash that quickly went viral.

The tense back-and-forth between anchor Carney Porter and Chief Meteorologist Michael Bohling took a cringeworthy turn during KFDX News’ 10 p.m. broadcast this week when she called her colleague “boring” after he accused her of not listening to his forecast, wild footage shared on Facebook showed.

Things got heated when the anchor attempted to pivot to a new segment and insisted rain wasn’t in the forecast – just moments after Bohling warned that it was.

“Did you say that we don’t have any rain in the forecast?” the weatherman queried as he interrupted Porter, before fuming, “I just said a second ago that we have rain in the forecast.”

The two briefly sparred over the timing of the stormy weather before Porter barked, “Stop trying to correct people and just do your job,” according to video of Wednesday’s nightly broadcast.

“I just don’t know why you don’t listen to me,” a frustrated Bohling replied.

Porter quickly shot back: “Cause you’re boring.”

The anchors took to social media the next day to apologize for their on-air spat, insisting they are “super close” and often tease each other in “good fun.”

“Carney and I are super close, nearly siblings in a way,” Bohling said on Facebook.

“We literally talk trash to each other all day, and sometimes it comes out on-air. Trust me, it’s all love.”

The meteorologist later shared a playful photo of them squaring off with boxing gloves in the studio.

Porter followed up two hours later with her own explanation in a lengthy social media post.

“I know it seems like Michael and I give each other a hard time, but please understand that it is always and only in good fun,” she wrote.

“We are actually close friends and we love to be sarcastic with each other and sometimes those instances can come off sounding a bit more serious than it actually is, especially for those who don’t know the dynamics of our friendship off the air,” Porter continued.

“But that being said, I would NEVER intentionally be mean or hurtful to Michael or anyone in our newsroom, whether it be on or off the air. We are all really close and I’m lucky that we are all such great friends. For those who found the moment uncomfortable, I sincerely apologize.”
