President Donald Trump delivered the first State of the Union address of his second term, declaring that “the golden age of America is upon us.” Trump focused on his domestic agenda, championed his administration’s mass deportation campaign and promised that Iran “will never have a nuclear weapon.”
In the chamber, Trump sought to add some surprise to the evening’s program — awarding medals to several service members in the room, bringing out the U.S. men’s hockey team fresh off their Olympic win, and reuniting a man who was released from a Venezuelan prison with his niece. Democrats were heard jeering the president, and one of them, Rep. Al Green (Texas), was escorted from the floor.
