Stephen Colbert Balks at Trump’s Board of Peace

Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.

Peace Pusher

President Trump held the inaugural meeting of his newly established Board of Peace in Washington on Thursday.

On “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert said the event allowed the president to treat “world leaders to a classic dribble-cup sundown ramble fest” at the recently renamed Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace.

“At a certain point, all this renaming is going to get confusing for everyone. ‘Driver, take me to the Trump building.’ ‘Which one, Mac? The airport, the theater, the peace building or the House of Pancakes?’” — STEPHEN COLBERT

“Today, he held the inaugural meeting of his Board of Peace, which is kind of like the U.N., except instead of passing binding resolutions, you pass a greasy bag of money to Donald Trump, because a permanent seat on the board is $1 billion in cash, and Donald Trump is chairman for life. So the Board of Peace works kind of like a strip club: cash only, and Donald Trump will never leave.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

“So far, all of our closest allies have refused to jump on board, but he has signed up Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Egypt, El Salvador, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the U.A.E. and Uzbekistan. It’s the Epcot of places Goofy was jailed without a trial.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

The Punchiest Punchlines (Prince Andrew Edition)

“Thanks to all of the Epstein allegations, Prince Andrew has finally been arrested. Officers were told not to handcuff him because that would just make him horny.” — GREG GUTFELD

“Finally, someone, anyone! Let’s hear it! Let’s hear it for British justice, which is better — which is better than American justice, because it comes with frilly wigs.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

“Technically, this arrest isn’t about any charges of pedophilia. U.K. authorities busted Andrew for misconduct in public office, which is defined as ‘serious willful abuse or neglect of the power or responsibilities of the public office held,’ which is not only not illegal in the United States, it was Trump’s campaign slogan.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

The Bits Worth Watching

Melissa McCarthy and Stephen Colbert traded Barbra Streisand stories on Thursday’s “Late Show.”
