64% of Americans Disapprove of Trump’s Tariffs

Even as President Trump vowed on Friday to find a way around the Supreme Court’s decision striking down his sweeping tariffs, nearly two-thirds of Americans say they disapprove of how he’s handling the tax on imported goods, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll.
The poll found disapproval among men, women, all racial and ethnic groups and across educational backgrounds.
Republicans stand apart as the one group that solidly favors the policy, with 75 percent saying they approve.
A majority of Americans say they expect the effect of the tariff policy to be largely negative, both for themselves and the country as a whole, according to polling from Pew Research Center. About 20 percent of Americans said they expected the policy to have a positive effect on their lives.
