6 Things You Need to Stop Doing If You’re a Pisces

Pisces are known to be the creative, sensitive, nurturing caregivers of the zodiac. This dreamy sign has a reputation for its emotional nature, which can feel more like a curse than a blessing sometimes.

As a Pisces moon myself, I understand just how emotionally taxing it can be to have this lovable water sign in your chart. However, if you can live in alignment with your sign, rather than rejecting its very essence, you’ll reach much more desirable outcomes.

Here are six things you need to stop doing if you’re a Pisces.

1. Staying For Someone’s Potential

Pisces, you’re a dreamer, a lover, a hopeless romantic…but sometimes, this means you stay too long in places you don’t belong. While support is necessary in every relationship, be careful not to misplace your trust or faith in people who don’t follow through on their promises. Dating your partner’s potential—rather than the person they truly are in the present moment—is unfair to both you and your partner. Before committing, ask yourself: if nothing about your partner were to change in the next few years or so, would you be happy in your relationship?

2. Being the Caregiver in Your Relationships

As the sweetheart of the zodiac, you might find yourself naturally taking care of others without expecting much in return. This is especially common in romantic relationships. If you’re always the caregiver and never the one being pampered or looked after, you might want to take a step back. Find ways to strike a balance in your relationships, so you’re not burning yourself out for someone else’s benefit.

3. Using Escapism as Avoidance

I credit some of my creativity and writing abilities to my Pisces moon, but—as with every zodiac sign—there’s a dark side to this water sign. Because you tend to lose yourself in maladaptive daydreams, you might use escapism as a coping mechanism. In other words, it operates as avoidance rather than creative inspiration.

If you’re constantly slipping into fantasies instead of facing your feelings or problems head-on, work on grounding yourself back into reality. A present, self-aware Pisces is a powerful individual.

4. Neglecting or Downplaying Your Own Needs

Do you find yourself constantly validating and reassuring everyone around you, but failing to do so for yourself? Pisces often downplay their own needs, especially in romantic relationships. Don’t make yourself small and palatable to fit into someone else’s life. Your wants, needs, and standards in relationships are just as important as your partner’s or friends’.

5. Shaming Your Sensitivity and Depth

The world has a way of shaming sensitivity, as if it’s a burden or a sign of weakness. However, sensitivity is actually crucial in society.

As a Pisces, you might experience your emotions more intensely than others, or perhaps you think more deeply than your peers. Rather than trying to change and “fit in” with others, embrace this part of yourself. Your sensitivity and depth are needed in today’s world.

6. Stifling Your Creativity

As mentioned earlier, Pisces tend to be creative and artistic. As a deeply sensitive individual, you must find an outlet to express your feelings. Otherwise, you might experience tension, anxiety, frustration, or even a disconnect from yourself.

From music and poetry to painting and pottery, there are countless forms of art to explore. Find what works best for you, and dedicate time to it. Give your soul a voice and your mind a rest. As a Pisces, you likely need it more than anyone else.
