The weekend upset by Dems in Texas is even “bigger” than media pundits think, according to a former GOP lawmaker.
Joe Walsh appeared on MS NOW on Sunday, where he was asked about the recent win of Taylor Rehmet, a union leader, who prevailed against a Trump-endorsed Republican. Analysts have said the upset will send shockwaves through the Republican party.
When asked by a host if the situation is as big of a deal as liberals think it is, he loudly exclaimed, “It’s bigger!”
He noted that MAGA voters are “depressed” by ICE tactics and Epstein releases and Trump’s apparent attacks on lawful gun owners.
“Coming from the base, the Republican base, the whole Second Amendment thing just further depresses the base. The Epstein files, they’re confused and they may not want to vote. But, Jonathan, this is one of those rare moments in American history where most Americans are standing up in the public square and saying, this is not who we are. Hardly ever a moment like this comes around,” he said. “We have masked federal thugs on our streets assaulting and killing immigrants and Americans. We’ve never seen this, so I don’t think smart people around tables like this, myself included, fully understand how revolutionary this period is. This is not who we are. Most Americans are screaming that.”
