Raging Trump threatens Canada again over refusal to certify American-made jets

In a furious Thursday post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump once again escalated tensions with Canada, this time announcing retaliatory measures over what he claims is the country’s refusal to certify American-made Gulfstream jets.

Trump declared that the United States would immediately decertify all Bombardier Global Express aircraft and any other planes manufactured in Canada, citing Canada’s rejection of Gulfstream’s 500, 600, 700, and 800 jet models.

“Based on the fact that Canada has wrongfully, illegally, and steadfastly refused to certify the Gulfstream 500, 600, 700, and 800 Jets, one of the greatest, most technologically advanced airplanes ever made, we are hereby decertifying their Bombardier Global Expresses, and all Aircraft made in Canada, until such time as Gulfstream, a Great American Company, is fully certified, as it should have been many years ago,” Trump railed.

He added: “Further, Canada is effectively prohibiting the sale of Gulfstream products in Canada through this very same certification process.”

Trump threatened that if Canada doesn’t immediately resolve the certification standoff, he will slap a massive 50% tariff on all Canadian aircraft sold into the United States market.

“If, for any reason, this situation is not immediately corrected, I am going to charge Canada a 50% Tariff on any and all Aircraft sold into the United States of America,” he concluded.

Tensions have boiled with the U.S.’s northern neighbor during Trump’s second term. The president recently disinvited Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney from his “Board of Peace” following comments the Canadian leader made during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Trump also recently snapped at Carney for striking a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping to open Canada to Chinese electric vehicle importation.
