Walmart took a swing at President Donald Trump on Thursday after the president shared false information about their business on his social media.
Trump reshared posts to his millions of Truth Social followers that Walmart allegedly planned to close 250 stores in California. The posts were authored by anonymous users, who were trying to chide California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the state’s high minimum wage of $22 per hour.
A Walmart spokesperson told CNNon Thursday that the president was spreading falsehoods.
“This isn’t accurate information,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “In fact, we actually just recently opened a new store in California.”
Newsom’s office also slammed Trump for sharing the false information.
“We cannot believe we have to say any of this out loud,” Newsom’s press office told CNN. “We cannot believe this is real life. And we truly cannot believe this man has the nuclear codes.”
