New York City schools will be closed Monday due to Winter Storm Fern, but students are still expected to show up for class online, Mayor Mamdani announced.
Hizzoner’s decision to move the classes remotely will have the city’s nearly 500,000 public school students across the city’s nearly 1,100 schools participating in class from their homes.

“As snowfall begins to blanket our city and conditions become hazardous, closing school buildings is a necessary step to keep New Yorkers safe,” Mayor Mamdani said.
