Jimmy Kimmel breaks down Trump’s ‘offensive’ Davos appearance: ‘Buffet of buffoonery’

Major decision just handed lawmakers a path to take down Trump: legal expert

Jimmy Kimmel has given an overview of Donald Trump’s “offensive” appearance in Davos, Switzerland.

The president was joined by other world leaders and heads of state at the World Economic Forum where he delivered a speech ripping into his political adversaries. Some of those political leaders were in the room as Trump denounced their actions and doubled down on needing Greenland as a US territory to bolster national security.

Talk show host Kimmel used his opening monologue to slam the speech as he suggested some world leaders were unable to attend Trump’s talk.

Kimmel said, “He rolled into Davos like a bull in a China shop. The room was jam packed for Trump’s speech, they reportedly had to turn away a number of heads of state because there was not enough room. Those who did get in enjoyed an all you can eat buffet of buffoonery.

“These speeches really are something to behold. They will be studied for many, many decades to come. It was not what you might call a charm offensive, it was offensive, yes, but very little charm.

“He loves bragging about our American contributions during World War 2, as if he had anything to do with that. Trump didn’t win World War 2, his dad didn’t help win World War 2, his grandad didn’t help win World War 2, none of them served.”

Kimmel went on to praise the troops who went on to win the war but noted Trump “cut the funding” for veterans. He added, “Yet still he had the audacity to tell our allies in Europe they should be thanking ‘us’.”

The talk show host went on to call Trump’s hour and ten minutes-long speech “nonsense”. David Rothkopf, a columnist for The Daily Beast, went on to analyse Trump’s appearance at Davos.

He wrote, “This is really a historical watershed. For a hundred years, the U.S. has made building transatlantic relationships the foundation of peace and prosperity for us and for many, many people in the world. And it’s over.

“It was a mess. Trump was embarrassing. Trump was offensive. Trump was a bore. Trump was an idiot. But this is also a bright red line in history, and the world is not the world that it was when you woke up this morning, and it only promises to get worse and worse.”
