President Donald Trump is scheduled to land later this morning in Switzerland, where he is expected to deliver a speech at this year’s World Economic Forum in the Alpine resort of Davos. His remarks to the annual gathering of executives, politicians and other prominent figures from around the world will come as European leaders try to de-escalate tensions with the United States over Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland. Before this week, Trump — the first U.S. president since Bill Clinton to attend Davos — was looking to use his speech to reaffirm his commitment to housing affordability. However, Trump’s escalating rhetoric about taking “complete and total control” of Greenland from NATO ally Denmark, along with his aggressive tariff policies, overshadowed this year’s meeting before it began.
