Jacob Elordi’s mother, Melissa Elordi, had an awkward backstage interaction with Leonardo DiCaprio at the 2026 Golden Globesthat was caught on camera.
The “Euphoria” star was filmed introducing his mom to both Sean Penn and DiCaprio in a TikTok video posted on the official Golden Globes TikTok account. After Melissa happily bounded up to meet Penn — who appeared to take the gum he was chewing out of his mouth before shaking her hand — she then shook hands with DiCaprio.
DiCaprio politely told her, “Hello, nice to meet you,” before pointing to his own mother — Irmelin Indenbirkin— whom was by his side as well during the ceremony.
“My mom,” he told Melissa, clearly wanting the two to meet.
However, Melissa was no longer paying attention and resumed speaking to Penn.
Jacob then tried to redirect his mom to acknowledge DiCaprio’s mom, though Melissa continued speaking to Penn.
Fans took note of Melissa appearing to accidentally snub DiCaprio in the comment section.
“The way that Leo tried to introduce his mom and was ignored 
,” one comment reads.
Another comment reads, “They left him hanging 
.”
“Leonardo DiCaprio deserves a hug after that ,” yet another fan noted.
Jacob was nominated for two Golden Globes on Sunday — Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Frankenstein” and Best Actor in a Limited Series for his role in “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” — but lost to Stellan Skarsgård and Stephen Graham, respectively.
DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical Comedy or Film for his performance in “One Battle After Another,” but also went home empty-handed thanks to Timothée Chalamet taking home the win.
DiCaprio went viral for another candid moment at the 2026 Golden Globes, when cameras caught him animatedly speaking to an unknown person about K-Pop during a commercial break.
Although his “One Battle After Another” co-star Teyana Taylor initially said he was speaking to her, she later walked it back during her appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” Wednesday and said that he told her he wasn’t speaking to her.
