Nick Reiner’s ex-lawyer discusses dramatically dropping the case and reveals moment he heard of brutal murders

Nick Reiner’s former attorney, Alan Jackson, “dropped everything” to work on the troubled son’s double murder case — blasting claims he stepped away from the gig for monetary reasons in a podcast appearance on Monday.

Jackson was in New York when he got a phone call in the “very early hours of Dec. 15,” that Nick Reiner had been accused of slaughtering his parents, famed director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, the lawyer recalled on the “Hot Mics with Billy Bush” podcast.

The high-powered attorney, who has represented the likes of disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, “dropped everything” after receiving the call from an individual whose identity he refused to reveal.

“I have to show fealty and loyalty to the confidentiality that attends that kind of phone call … I can tell you that immediately thereafter, I dropped everything. I sent out a notice to my team here back in Los Angeles…I got on a flight nearly immediately,” Jackson told Bush.

Jackson told a judge in January that he had “no choice” but to withdraw as the attorneyfor the 32-year-old celebrity scion, but decried that he was legally barred from explaining why.

Despite this, he exclaimed he still believed that “Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.”

Jackson remained tight-lipped about his reason for stepping down from the case, telling Bush it was due to a “confidential communication” that he was not willing to disclose.

Bush then asked if Jackson decided to step down because Nick was unable to foot the bill for his legal fees — claims the celebrity lawyer quickly brushed off.

“You can’t say that something happened with the retainer because I’ve never said that,” Jackson responded.

“Obviously, something happened with my ability, and my team’s ability, to continue the representation, but I don’t want you, your audience, or anybody else to start speculating as to what that might be. I have not said a word about it,” he said.

“Once I’m done, I’m down. I’ve withdrawn.”

Jackson added that he has full faith in public defender Kimberly Greene as Reiner’s new lawyer, repeating his claim that the son of the famed director is not guilty.

“I have a lot of faith in the public defender’s office. I have a lot of faith in Kimberly Greene. I have a lot of faith in their representation. They’re outstanding, outstanding legal professionals,” Jackson said.

“I was doing a favor to the truth. We had worked at that time, it was about three weeks almost to the day, we had worked tirelessly. Nearly every waking hour, our entire team, and you, saw the team behind me,” he added of his time as Nick’s attorney.

“It was important for me to write some wrongs that had been printed, lots of speculation, lots of people who want to believe certain things,” he said.

“And so that with that statement, that’s as far as I’m going to go, I believe in it. I believe exactly what I said. What I said is the truth … under the laws of the state of California, he’s not guilty.”

Nick — who has been in rehab 17 times for drug addiction issues — allegedly killed his parents, Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, and fled the home.

Nick’s sister, Romy, found her parents’ bodies when she went to check on them after a massage therapist was left waiting outside the Reiners’ gate with no response from inside, the New York Times reported.

The alleged killer is currently being held without bail in a Los Angeles jail on two counts of first-degree murder for the brutal double slayings.
