Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is demanding answers after the release of a shocking video that appears to show a federal immigration agent “accompanying a female detainee into a porta-potty” in Minnesota.
Published on social media Saturday night by X user “Molly Ploofkins,” an influential political commentator with more than 135,000 followers, the video was allegedly captured in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.
The video shows an individual – alleged to be an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement – escorting who appears to be a woman – alleged to be an ICE detainee – into a mobile toilet. The alleged agent is seen slipping and falling on his back before accompanying the woman into the mobile toilet.
“This is deeply alarming, if anyone has more information please share,” Omar wrote in a social media post Sunday afternoon on X. “Brooklyn Center is in my district and I would love any info you all can provide.”
Migrants arrested by ICE have been subjected to sexual abuse by ICE officers, according to accounts by arrested migrants shared with the human rights organization ACLU, and onlookers feared that the video highlighted by Omar may point to yet another instance of sexual abuse.
“If this video is real, and that ICE agent made her perform a sexual favor that’s called sex trafficking and it’s a felony,” wrote X user “RudyMoon,” an anti-sex-trafficking advocate with more than 8,300 followers. “This needs to be investigated.”
“Oh my word this is horrible,” wrote another, X user “Tern,” a frequent commentator on politics who’s amassed more than 83,000 followers. “They are so stupid and so evil.”
