A fuming Jonathan Lemire thoroughly dismantled what he determined to be lies by Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi about the point-blank killing of 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday by an ICE agent, an incident which has set off a national outcry.
On MS NOW’s “Morning Joe,” the panel repeatedly showed the clip of the killing of Good by an agent who did not appear to be in danger, which also led Noem to call the victim a “domestic terrorist.”
Among the misrepresentations by the president and Noem immediately after the killing, Lemire took particular exception with the claim she was blocking ICE agents from driving down the road.
According to Trump on Truth Social, “The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”
Noem also made similar remarks about Good blocking the street, which led Lemire to point out, “The footage we have seen so far of what precipitated the shooting is the woman in her minivan, actually, you see her stick her hand out the window and wave a car through, one of the ICE agents’ cars dives through.”
“That’s not, you would think, the behavior of someone who was then planning to use their vehicle as as a weapon when she’s letting another car drive through,” he added. “It’s unclear why that agent also was grabbing at the door handle. That seems like it escalated the situation dramatically. Quite possibly this woman very afraid, that’s why she drove away.”
