Police charge a man in connection with a party dispute that left three dead

A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder in connection with a gunfight that killed three on Saturday stemming from a dispute at a birthday party at a banquet hall, Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader said Monday.

Antonio Lancaster, of the Landover area, was charged in the killing of Ronez Proctor, 27, of Waldorf. Police allege the other two men killed — Pierre Davis, 33, and Kevon Medley Williams, 26, both of D.C. — fatally shot each other.

About 2 a.m., outside of Irving’s Banquet Hall in the Temple Hills area, Lancaster, Davis and Medley Williams “willingly participated in the gunfight,” Nader said.

Police say in charging documents that video footage of the parking lot showed Lancaster firing at Medley Williams and Proctor. Davis was standing next to Lancaster, according to the charging documents.

After the first shots, Medley Williams took out a gun and exchanged fire with Davis, and they killed each other in the crossfire, police say in the documents. Proctor attempted to help Medley Williams, but, according to the documents, he got caught up in a struggle with other partygoers and was pushed to the ground.

Lancaster approached Proctor and fatally shot him at close range before fleeing the scene, police say in the documents.

Nader said authorities recovered two handguns from the incident and are seeking a third. The motive remains under investigation.

When reached by phone Monday, Medley Williams’s mother declined to comment. Efforts to reach the families of Davis and Proctor on Monday were unsuccessful.

Lancaster was awaiting extradition from Fairfax County, Virginia, on Monday, where he had been arrested, police said. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.

During a news conference Monday, County Executive Aisha Braveboy said that Irving’s has been shut down and will have an opportunity for a hearing. She said while the owners of Irving’s are not directly to blame, a lack of operating security cameras and a security plan demand accountability.

“Having establishments open that late at night without security is a problem,” Braveboy said. “And it’s a problem that will not be tolerated in Prince George’s County. So all establishments need to be on notice.”

A representative for Irving’s Banquet Hall did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.

Nader also said Monday that police are investigating a series of rifle shootings that occurred Sunday, one of which was fatal, and have a person of interest in custody.

Nader said police got a call about 7 a.m. for a man unresponsive inside his car near Watkins Park Plaza. Officers found Joseph Holt III, 65, of Upper Marlboro, had been fatally shot.

About 12 hours later, officers responded to a shooting on Darlenen Street, within a mile of the fatal shooting, where they found a man shot inside his vehicle. District II patrol officers then located another victim shortly after, a woman who had been shot inside her vehicle on Cambleton Drive nearby, police said in a news release. Police also found another person was shot at while in their car, but not struck.

Nader said patrol officers responding to where the shots were fired located a person of interest. Police also recovered a rifle, which Nader said was the weapon used in the earlier homicide.

As of Monday, the man who was shot was in stable condition and the woman was in critical but stable condition, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Efforts to reach the family of Holt were unsuccessful.

The shootings mark four homicides in the first four days of the year in a county that had seen homicides decrease more than 30 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year. While homicides trended downward last year, December was particularly deadly, with police reporting seven homicides that month.

“We can’t prevent every incident, but what we can do is be present and show our community that we’re serious about getting the job done,” Braveboy said.
