CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins hit President Donald Trump on Monday with a devastating montage of his broken promises when it comes to his recent foreign policy moves.
During the opening segment of her show “The Source,” Collins played a montage of Trump’s recent statements defending his administration’s decision to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and compared them to statements Trump made during his campaigns.
Trump defended the move to arrest Maduro as a matter of national security, while he campaigned on a promise not to intervene in the affairs of other countries, according to the clips.
“The questions are not just limited to Venezuela, who’s running it, and what the future of that country is going to look like,” Collins said. “We’ve also heard the president threatening several other nations just in the last 48 hours alone.”
Over the weekend, Trump sent U.S. military personnel to Venezuela to arrest Maduro and his wife, and bring them back to the U.S. to stand trial for narco-terrorism and weapons charges. He also threatened to arrest the leaders of Mexico and Colombia.
On Monday, Trump administration officials held a more than five-hour briefing about Maduro’s arrest with a select group of lawmakers.
