Amid the worldwide instability brought on by the American attack and takeover of Venezuela, President Donald Trump took to social media Monday to complain about the lack of media praise his administration has received.
He specifically bragged about his tariff policy — which he falsely claimed had generated $600 billion in revenue. It was a massive diversion from the news that has filled the airwaves since the moves in South America Saturday,
“We have taken in, and will soon be receiving, more than 600 Billion Dollars in Tariffs, but the Fake News Media refuses to talk about it because they hate and disrespect our Country, and want to interfere with the upcoming Tariff decision, one of the most important ever, of the United States Supreme Court,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
“Because of Tariffs, our Country is financially, AND FROM A NATIONAL SECURITY STANDPOINT, FAR STRONGER AND MORE RESPECTED THAN EVER BEFORE. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
The Supreme Court is currently weighing the legality of Trump’s tariffs, which, contrary to Trump’s claim, have only generated around $195 billion in fiscal year 2025, or by some estimates, only $142 billion. Trump has warned that the United States may “be reduced to almost Third World status” should the court rule against his tariffs, and has repeatedly lashed out at critics – and the court itself – of his trade policy.
