Target doesn’t get enough credit for its healthy grocery options. These are my dietitian-approved picks from the store.

  • I’m a dietitian and mom of two little kids, and I love the healthy grocery options at Target.
  • My favorites include protein-rich snacks, plant-based options, and kid-friendly foods.
  • Target offers a wide variety of nutritious brands, making it a great choice for healthy shopping.

If you aren’t shopping for your groceries at Target yet, it might be time to change that.

As a dietitian and mom of two young kids, I appreciate the store’s seemingly endless variety of healthy brands to choose from.

Over the last few years, I’ve found a few products that are now non-negotiables in my cart. I even make a special trip to Target once a month to restock these family favorites.

Stonyfield pouches

If you have a toddler, you understand the hype around pouches. Portable and low-mess, they make for an ideal on-the-go snack.

As a dietitian, I love Stonyfield ZEROg added sugar yogurt pouches because each pouch contains 5 grams of protein, 0 grams of added sugar, and is made with real fruits, making these a tasty snack I feel good about serving.

Kodiak Power Waffles

Waffles are always a hit in our house, but I dread the inevitable sugar crash.

To ensure sustained energy, I choose Kodiak Frozen Power Waffles. All of the flavors are incredible, but my son especially loves the chocolate chip variety. Made with 100% whole grains and packed with 12 grams of protein, I know my family will get a hearty, nutritious start to their day. Not to mention, they cook up in less than two minutes; the ultimate mom win.

Wonderful Pistachios

As a mom, I find that I spend so much time caring for others that it is easy to forget to care for myself. If I’m not prepared, I can easily forget to eat for hours.

On busy days, I throw some Wonderful Pistachios (without shells) in my purse for a tasty snack on the go. Pistachios contain complete protein and fiber that help keep you full, making these the perfect between-meal nosh for me

Nasoya Thai Basil Vegetable Dumplings

When you find a plant-based option your toddler actually loves, you hold on to it with all your might.

These plant-based dumplings, made with tofu and organic vegetables, make a quick and delicious pan-fried appetizer to serve while I’m still preparing dinner.

It’s a win-win: I appreciate that they have 7 grams of protein, and my son loves the savory-sweet dipping sauce.

Local Hive honey

If you’re struggling with picky eaters at home, I’ve found the ultimate mom hack: make it sweet.

Using Local Hive’s raw & unfiltered honey as a natural sweetener, almost any food becomes delectable to my kids. Plus, it provides a healthy boost of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

I like to swirl it into yogurt, spread it on peanut butter toast, drizzle it over roasted carrots, or stir it into marinades for chicken and salmon.

Gimme Roasted Seaweed Snacks

My son cannot get enough of these umami-rich roasted seaweed snacks. At just 30 calories per serving, they are an excellent source of vitamins B12, K, and iodine, so I’m usually happy to let him have some.

The best part? Each 10g pack is equivalent to a full serving of vegetables, making me feel like supermom.

Egglife wraps

Lately, I’ve been loving these low-carb Egglife wraps made from egg whites. With around 11 grams of protein (depending on the flavor), you can easily pump up the protein in any meal.

They offer a variety of sweet and savory wrap flavors, including Everything Bagel, Sweet Cinnamon, and Chipotle (which I like to use as a tortilla substitute on taco night).

Frieda’s honey dragon fruit

Can you believe some Target locations carry exotic fruit, too? This sweet-as-honey dragon fruit is full of fiber, vitamin C, and iron.

While some shoppers may be intimidated by their appearance, don’t fret. Just slice the fruit and scoop the flesh to enjoy this healthy snack.

Bako sweet potatoes

When I’m between work calls and need a quick meal, I microwave a Bako sweet potato. Rich in vitamin A and fiber, these triple-washed sweet potatoes are ready to eat in around just 8 minutes. I enjoy mine topped with black beans, guacamole, and salsa.

Veggies Made Great muffins

If my picky-eating toddler were left to his own devices, I’m convinced he’d survive on baked goods alone. Enter: Veggies Made Great muffins.

Veggies are not only present in these products, but top the ingredient list, making up the bulk of what’s inside. No powders here, you can see the vegetables in every bite.

My son is obsessed with the Birthday Cake and Banana Chocolate Chip flavors, and little does he know they’re packed with wholesome vegetables like yellow squash, carrots, and zucchini.
