Hours after Donald Trump announced that he had invaded Venezuela and successfully nabbed President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) went on MS NOW and hammered the president for breaking the law once again.
At the same time, the president was calling into Fox News to boast about his dubious accomplishment –– while also admitting he had no idea what comes next for the invaded country — the Vermont Democrat started her interview off by exclaiming, “I’m angry.”
Speaking with “The Weekend” co-host Eugene Daniels she continued, “This was not necessary, it was not legal and we saw this coming. This has been the plan the entire time. It was never about narco-drug trafficking, this was about oil, this was about minerals, this was about regime change.”
“There is no legal justification for what has happened,“ she added, “I am outraged that nobody in Congress was briefed, including our leader, Hakeem Jeffries, that the committees of jurisdiction received no briefing. And this is dangerous, not just because of what this will mean for Venezuela and the region. It matters for our moral standing the world.”
Calling it an “outrageous military action,” she added, “My heart goes out to all the Vermonters that have been deployed or in the region. This is about our service members who sign up to protect and defend the constitution and not do bidding on a whim.”
