U.S. Vice President JD Vance over the weekend was hit with a rare MAGA rebellion over a statement he made.
It all started with a social media post by right-wing columnist Dustin Grage, who said, “Listen, the Somali Medicaid fraud is bad, but people also need to understand that voter fraud is happening in Minnesota too. Last week we uncovered a Somali voter-fraud operation. And sadly, it probably will not be the last. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Fraud thrives when accountability disappears. We are going to keep digging until every rock is turned over.”
That post caught the attention of Vance, who shared it along with some words of his own.
“What’s happening in Minnesota is a microcosm of the immigriation fraud in our system,” Vance wrote, spelling immigration incorrectly. “Politicans,” he continued with another misspelling, “like it because they get power.”
“Welfare cheats like it because they get rich. But it’s a zero sum game, and they’re stealing both money and political power from Minnesotans,” Vance added.
Although Vance is incredibly popular within the MAGA community, his and Trump’s base supporters weren’t satisfied with what many of them saw as simply more talk without action. A lot of commenters pointed out that the statement sounded like it could be made by a casual observer, but not by the V.P.
Popular MAGA influencer Cernovich wrote, “Kash should already have a task force.”
“This investigation should not have had to have been done by a YouTuber. Not to diminish Nick, he does great work. It brings shame to the FBI / DOJ that nobody thought to do this,” he further said. “Do people want to be podcasters or to do their official jobs?”
Another widely followed MAGA account, Michael Sebastian, said, “Massive fraud was uncovered. Will anyone go to jail over it? Will anyone be denaturalized or deported?”
“If not, we don’t really have rule of law anymore,” Sebastian then added.
The hugely popular MAGA account known as DataRepublican (small r) chimed in, “I’m glad this is all being flushed out, but can we please get some messaging on why it is so difficult to prosecute or deport fraudsters & accomplices? Like Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar. Is it a state jurisdiction thing? Are you being slow-walked in the administration? So many questions…”
That same sentiment was expressed by another user, Oscar Von Reuenthal, who told the V.P.:
“You might want to check the replies to your post because they’re pretty much unanimous in saying that talk is cheap, Bondi is asleep at the wheel, and words need to be backed up with actions. In other words, get off your a—- and start arresting everyone. Not one, not two…”
