FBI should ‘have a chat with Trump’ after new post admits Epstein knowledge: ex-prosecutor

A former federal prosecutor said Saturday that, if she were still in her old role, she would “send out two FBI agents to have a chat with” Donald Trump after the president signaled he knows more than he previously suggested about Jeffrey Epstein’s activities.

Ex-prosecutor Joyce Vance, who recently tied a New York Times report about Trump being Epstein’s “wingman” to the botched rollout of DOJ’s Epstein files, over the weekend wrote a piece on Substack called “He Looks Like A Witness To Me.” In the essay, the legal expert noted that Trump had revealed himself to be a witness, and said she would want the FBI to interview the president.

On Christmas, Trump had a familiar tone to his social media post, but disclosed new information about Epstein, according to Vance.

“Merry Christmas to all, including the many Sleazebags who loved Jeffrey Epstein, gave him bundles of money, went to his Island, attended his parties, and thought he was the greatest guy on earth, only to ‘drop him like a dog’ when things got too HOT, falsely claimed they had nothing to do with him, didn’t know him, said he was a disgusting person, and then blame, of course, President Donald J. Trump, who was actually the only one who did drop Epstein, and long before it became fashionable to do so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Regarding Trump’s post, Vance wrote, “Let’s look a little deeper and see what he’s really telling us. Donald Trump suggests that he has a lot of information to offer about Jeffrey Epstein, which makes sense given all the photographs of them together and documentation of their close their friendship, like the drawing included in Epstein‘s birthday book that has been attributed to Trump (he has denied it).”

“He looks like a witness to me!” she proclaimed, adding, “Given this public comment and the long-term relationship between the two, if I wanted to understand more about possible co-conspirators and accomplices, funding, and the full range of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminality—what his long time party buddy learned that was so bad that Trump dropped Epstein before the Florida prosecution made it all public—I would want an interview with Donald Trump.”

She then said, “If I were still a prosecutor, I’d send out two FBI agents to have a chat with him. As far as I’m aware, the Supreme Court has never said presidents can’t be witnesses.”

Vance did note that the comment was “tongue in cheek,” but said that’s only because there’s no possibility of Trump’s DOJ ordering it.

“That’s not happening with Donald Trump, who is deploying his Justice Department in a defensive stance designed to protect him at all costs, while calling the files a Democratic hoax,” Vance added. “But really, the president could do the survivors a great service by sharing what he knows. Trump has repeatedly said he’s the most transparent president ever, so why not?”
