One of President Donald Trump’sformer business partners made a stunning comparison on Tuesday between the way the Trump administration has handled the Jeffrey Epstein files and another high-profile case of serial sexual abuse.
On Tuesday, the Justice Department released another trove of documents from the FBI’s investigation into disgraced financier and convicted sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. The files included emails that placed Trump on Epstein’s infamous plane on eight occasions, and other revelations that were politically damaging for the president.
Jack O’Donnell, former president and chief operating officer of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, discussed the latest Epstein files release with CNN’s Erin Burnett on “OutFront.”
“I don’t think there’s going to be anything that’s a surprise to him, because I’m convinced that he knows absolutely what’s in those files,” O’Donnell said. “And I think that’s what is taking so long. This strategy, by the way, of drip, drip, drip, is just ridiculous on his part.”
“First off, it’s an egregious way to treat these victims,” he continued. “To do this to them, and now it almost seems purposeful.”
O’Donnell added that Trump’s actions reminded him of how the Catholic Church handled the hundreds of sexual abuse allegations against it.
“It kind of reminds me of what the Catholic Church went through,” he said. “Had they been a little bit more honest right up front, they wouldn’t have had years of this misery for these little boys.
“And that’s important here, Erin, to me,” he continued. “We are looking at these victims as women, the women that they are today. These were children. That this happened, and that’s the part that I think sometimes is lost on everybody. These were children.”
