Fox News icon roasted for ‘insensitive and horrible take’ on Epstein files

Fox News icon Brit Hume was roasted by political analysts and observers on Monday after he posted a take about the Jeffrey Epstein files online.

“The Epstein case is a dead horse. They should stop beating it,” Hume posted on X in response to a clip of Rep. Thomas Massie(R-KY) on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday.

Hume’s comments come at a time when President Donald Trump’s administration is under increasing pressure to release the Epstein files, which he promised to do during the 2024 presidential campaign. On Friday, the administration released several thousand documents, many of which were heavily redacted. The release spared backlash from analysts and observers who claimed the administration was continuing to cover up the Epstein files.

“Nearly 1000 women and girls were sexually assaulted, including hundreds who were between the ages of 14-16,” reporter Julie K. Brown, who has covered the Epstein story for more than a decade, posted on X. “This is an insensitive and horrible take. There is so much you do not know. Investigate.”

“Of course this is coming from a Fox News guy,” Democratic influencer Harry Sisson posted on X. “F— you, buddy. The Epstein victims are demanding justice and accountability. Maybe listen to them and not your cult leader, okay?”

“Cool,” writer Wajahat Ali posted on X. “Release the entirety of the files and explain why Maxwell is in a minimum security camp and why Trump’s name was redacted and why you’re defending pedophiles?”

“Brit says he’s an expert on sex trafficking, I think,” independent journalist Marcy Wheeler posted on X.
