Conservative journalist Brian Glenn erupted Friday over the ongoing MAGA civil war that was on full display Thursday during a Turning Point USA event in Arizona, warning that the escalating intraparty fights may hurt Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.
“When it comes down to it, is your life better right now than it was a year ago?” Glenn said, speaking on right-wing news network Real America’s Voice.
“Do you think it’s gonna be better off two years from now than it was when [Trump] took office? Those are the things I wish we’d talk about! All this other bull—-, I’m sorry, I’m just over it! If I seem a little angry, I apologize, I’m just over it!”
The conservative advocacy organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA held its annual America Fest conference Thursday, which historically has been a unifying event for Republicans and those in the MAGA movement.
On Thursday, however, the event quickly devolved into MAGA infighting, infighting centered largely around the growing divide in the MAGA movement over the United States’ significant financial and political support of Israel.
The MAGA infighting has led to a distinct split within the movement, with prominent figures such as Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) breaking with GOP leadership in openly criticizing Israel, particularly in how it’s conducted its military siege on Gaza, which has been labeled a genocide by a United Nations commission and dozens of reputable human rights organizations.
The dissenting MAGA figures have also called into question claims of how the United States purportedly benefits from its significant support of Israel, critiques that were viciously attacked Thursday by conservative figures such as Ben Shapiro. Glenn, visibly frustrated and elevating his voice, said that the tit-for-tat attacks did the GOP no favors, and warned it could end up hurting the party next year.
“I kind of wish we’d turn our attention to 2026 and the policies that actually affect Americans,” Glenn said.
“All of this talk is great for talk radio, but it’s horrible in terms of winning the 2026 midterms! This does nothing to improve anyone’s life! And if I seem a little angry about it, it’s because I am! We waste so much dadgum time on who said this, who said that, all these conspiracy theories.”
