Trump’s bizarre address brutally mocked on CNN: ‘Don’t you see how awesome I am?’

A CNN political commentator mocked President Donald Trump’s address to the nation on Wednesday night.

Trump’s address to the nation comes at a time when public polls show support for some of his signature policies is fading. A recent NPR poll found just 36% of Americans support his economic policies, which many experts have said are the reason Trump was elected to office in the first place.

During the speech, Trump blamed Democrats for the health care crisis as federal subsidies are set to expire on Dec. 31. He also blamed immigrants for the rising cost of living instead of offering a vision of how his administration is working to address affordability concerns.

Kristen Soltis Anderson, a CNN political commentator, humorously summed up the speech during CNN’s “The Source” with Kaitlan Collins.

“Instead of [saying], ‘I feel your pain, I understand that things hurt, but here’s what I’m doing to try to make it better. Give me some time.’ This message was, ‘I’m awesome. Don’t you see how awesome I am?’” Anderson said. “It felt a little bit like a State of the Union … or a podcast to be like 1.2 speed. It felt a little bit like that. I don’t think it was really his best, most charismatic work.”
