‘Good-Bad’ Movies

What is a “good-bad” movie? Maya Salam, a pop culture reporter, explains:

It’s the kind of flick that might have you cackling, hollering or groaning, one that is not necessarily great cinema but is great fun. It’s highly watchable even though — or maybe because — it’s memorably ridiculous. And it always has at least one element that pushes it into absurd territory.

According to Ms. Salam, some films that fall into that category are “Practical Magic,” “Roadhouse,” and the 2006 Christmastime favorite starring Kate Winslet and Jack Black, pictured above, “The Holiday.” If you’ve seen any of these films, do you agree with that assessment?

What is another “good-bad” movie you would add to the list? Tell us about it and what exactly makes it “highly watchable even though — or maybe because — it’s memorably ridiculous.”

Share in the comments, and then read the related article for more of Ms. Salam’s take on “The Holiday.”
