Providence Police Release New Video of Brown Shooting Suspect

Police in Rhode Island have released another video of what is believed to be the suspect in the Brown University school shooting.

The video shows an individual in an all-black outfit walking along the sidewalk. The department has requested the public’s help in identifying the suspected shooter.

We are sharing a video of a person of interest and plan to release additional video as part of the ongoing investigation. If you recognize this individual, please contact our Tip Center online at https://t.co/wMDG5fF8y4 or call 401-272-3121 pic.twitter.com/LuPCx7mAV2

Until this footage, police had released just one video of what they believe is the suspect walking near campus. Neither clip offers a clear view of the suspect’s face, however, and authorities have said footage from inside the campus building where the shooting took place is unusable. The shooter is believed to have fled campus on foot.

The manhunt in Providence entered its third day on Monday after a “person of interest” who had been detained was released by authorities on Sunday evening.

On Saturday, two students were killed, and nine others were injured in what was the first school shooting on an Ivy League campus.

The FBI separately released new images of a second “person of interest” in the case on Monday.

Three new photos posted on X by FBI Director Kash Patel showed a person dressed in dark clothing, including a black beanie and a face mask.

The FBI described the individual as “approximately 5’8” with a stocky build.” The agency offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the shooter.

“Anyone with information please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121,” Patel said.

Patel suffered an embarrassing blow after Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that the initial “person of interest” would be released from detention, citing evidence that “now points in a different direction.”

Providence police chief Oscar L. Perez Jr. said law enforcement is still investigating whether the shooter remains in Providence.

“We did our thorough investigation, examined, ended up drafting some search warrants, came up with some evidence, but that evidence was examined and we didn’t have enough, obviously, to be able to prosecute anybody and so the person was released,” he explained.

Neronha told reporters on Sunday evening that the manhunt could “take some time.”

“This is what these investigations look like. Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and go in another,” he said.
