Manspreading maniac punches NYC public school teacher in the face for simply sitting on subway

A manspreading maniac punched a 27-year-old New York City teacher in the face simply because she sat near him on a Bronx subway train — leaving her concussed and terrified to ride the rails again.

The Manhattan public school teacher who hails from the Bronx and wished not to be identified was on board a southbound 5 train around 7 a.m. on Wednesday when the assault unfolded, she told The Post.

She said she just wanted to sit down during her morning commute and noticed the man “was taking up enough space for two people.”

A woman sitting next to him gave her some space to sit down, so she took a seat, but the manspreading straphanger began verbally accosting her.

“He kept accusing me that I was trying to squeeze myself in as the train kept moving, and I was just telling him, like, I’m not doing anything, because I was literally not even moving. I’m respecting the fact that you already did not want to give me space,” she said.

He then shoved the woman on top of the other straphanger, who graciously made space for her, and brazenly punched the educator in the face, according to the victim and cops.

“He was like, ‘You think you’re a woman and that I can’t hit you? I will break your jaw.’ Like, continuously, he kept saying that he’ll break my jaw,” the woman terrifyingly recounted.

The victim said her adrenaline kicked in and she fought back.

“So after he punched me, you know, self-defense just kicked in. Like I looked at him and I swung right back, because, like, I’m, you know, you just hit me for no reason at this point, just because I’m sitting down.”

The “very hard” punch left the teacher “very close to blacking out,” she said.

“At that point, I was literally stuck there with the dude that kept saying that he’s gonna break my jaw … Over a seat? Seriously? Like, come on. It’s 7 in the morning. Nobody pays $2.90 for that,” she recalled.

At that point, another commuter stuck up for the woman and told the fist-wielding man, decrying, “Yo, it’s just a seat. Like, it’s not that serious” — sparking him to threateningly rant about how he wasn’t afraid to go to jail again, according to the teacher’s account.

A male rider pulled the educator away from the aggressor, putting an end to the violent altercation.

“If it wasn’t for a gentleman sliding me out from under him. You know, who knows if that dude would have really broken my jaw.”

She got off at the East 86 Street and Lexington Avenue subway station, while the man remained on board, cops said.

After the attack, the woman was in shock and went to her job as usual, but began to experience the immense physical and emotional pain of the encounter after the “moment of shock” broke, she said.

“I had to call my principal, tell her everything. And that’s when the moment of shock, I guess, broke, because I literally broke down crying right then and there,” the woman recalled.

“And then they had to take me to the hospital, and that’s when I started feeling like my head started hurting. My head was pounding, and then when they took me to the hospital, they ended up saying I got a concussion from how hard he hit me.”

The woman said she is now terrified to take her normal commute on the subway and has had to shell out a “whole bunch of money” to pay for Ubers.

“Honestly, I’m terrified to ride the train, and then every single time I talk about it, I gotta fight back the tears of crying out.”

“Now, I understand what people say, it’s not safe on the train.”

She said the NYPD has been helpful and a detective has been “in non-stop contact” with her since the assault.

Police have said that the man — who is yet to be nabbed — was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black boots.

The NYPD has also released an image of the bearded man, wearing a zipped-up hooded sweatshirt.

The teacher added that she doesn’t blame the city — but rather some “inconsiderate” and violent straphangers who ride the subway.

“They’re [the city] providing the seats. But now it’s the people in New York City that are being selfish, that are being inconsiderate, and being rude and disgusting,” she said

“You could have easily said, ‘Excuse me, man, you don’t fit here. I’m not moving my legs’ or something. Like, you just had to escalate to violence. You just have to escalate to punching somebody in the face.”

“Like, unfortunately, that’s the disgusting society that we have in the Bronx. That’s the reason why everybody sees the Bronx and it’s like, ‘Eww, the Bronx.’ Because of people like that,” the woman added.
