This year marks 250 years since Jane Austen, the author of “Pride and Prejudice,” “Emma” and several other novels, was born.
For her global fandom, that calls for celebration. A recent New York Times article reports on how Austen’s most ardent fans, known as Janeites, will be honoring the novelist with Austen-themed parades, parties and exhibits in England and beyond.
Would you consider yourself a Janeite? Would you want to go to one of these parties?
If not, tell us about another fandom you belong to. For example, are you a passionate follower of the K-pop group BTS, the “Twilight” book series, or the “Marvel” movies?
If you were to throw a celebration in honor of this fandom, what would it look like? What activities would you have? What might people wear? Where would you host it? Describe your imagined party in detail.
