Tributes to Rob Reiner pour in from Hollywood and beyond: ‘The reason I became an actor’

The entertainment industry — and beyond — was left reeling after legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Hollywood home, with tributes pouring in as soon as the tragic news spread.

Reiner, 78, a beloved Hollywood icon known for his hit films like “The Princess Bride” and “This is Spinal Tap,” was found dead alongside his 68-year-old wife, Michele, at their Brentwood mansion on Sunday afternoon.

With police still investigating the disturbing murders, actors, directors and others who worked with or were influenced by the “All in the Family” star.

“Horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle (sic). So much love to their kids and family,” Elijah Wood posted on Xin the wake of the shocking news.

“Horrible. I didn’t think the day could get worse,” “Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer wrote on Threads.

“Richard Jewell” star Paul Walter Hauser wrote in a lengthy, heartfelt Instagram post crediting Reiner’s move “A Few Good Men” as the reason he became an actor.

“Grieving the loss of my favorite director of all-time,” Hauser wrote. “A Few Good Men is THE reason I became an actor, and Rob’s filmography behind the camera is THE reason I wanted to direct and still do.”

Actor Josh Gad called Reiner “one of the greatest directors of our time” in a touching post paying tribute to the legendary filmmaker and his wife.

“Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle (sic) were two of the most kind and caring souls you could ever imagine. He cared so much for those who had no voices,” the “Frozen” actor wrote.

“This loss is devastating. I cannot express how much this hurts. Love you Rob and Michelle. Thank you for all you gave us.”

Actress Virginia Madsen, who starred in Reiner’s 2012 film “The Magic of Belle Isle,” thanked him “for giving us so much joy to hold on to.”

“Life and talent always turned up to 11,” Madsen wrote, in reference to his cult classic film “This Is Spinal Tap.”

Outside of Hollywood, former President Barack Obama said the Reiners “lived lives defined by purpose.”

“Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen,” he wrote on X.

“But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she was devastated by the news of the couple’s murder.

“It’s hard to think of anyone more remarkable and excellent in every field and endeavor they pursued. Rob was creative, funny, and beloved,” the California Democrat wrote.

“And in all of their endeavors, Michelle (sic) was his indispensable partner, intellectual resource, and loving wife.”

“Paul and I and our entire family mourn the loss of our very dear friends and are praying for their loved ones during an unimaginable time of grief,” she added.

“Jen and I are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner,” Gov. Gavin Newsom posted on X.

“Rob will be remembered for his remarkable filmography and for his extraordinary contribution to humanity,” Newsom added.

Police were called to the Hollywood icon’s home on Sunday afternoon, where they discovered the longtime couple, who married in 1989, dead from stab wounds.

The couple’s 32-year-old son and screenwriter Nick Reiner has been listed as a person of interest in the deadly stabbing, sources told The Post.

A knife is believed to have been used in the attack.
