Erika Kirk stuns after announcing meeting with fierce critic: ‘This is going to end badly’

Erika Kirk announced that she has scheduled a private meeting Monday with right-wing influencer Candace Owens, a fierce critic of hers who’s implied, without evidence, that Israel may have played a role in the killing of her husband, Charlie Kirk.

And, given the gravity of Owens’ criticisms hurled at Ms. Kirk, many are predicting that the meeting won’t pan out in her favor.

“This is going to end badly, and it’s playing right into her psychopathic hands,” wrote RedState writer “Bonchie,” who uses the pseudonym for his byline on the conservative political blog, in a social media post on X. “Owens will use this to hurt you. But if that’s what you want to do, you certainly have that right.”

Owens has hurled countless attacks at Ms. Kirk in the wake of her husband’s death, largely around Ms. Kirk’s pushback on conspiracy theories around her husband’s death. Owens ignited a MAGA civil war after revealing alleged text messages of Kirk weeks before his death that suggested he was “done with Israel bullying him.”

“Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday,” Kirk wrote in a social media post on X that was viewed nearly 10 million times. “Owens and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting.”

Critics of Owens, however, voiced their fears that the meeting may become explosive, and only lead to further escalations between the two right-wing figures.

“I fear this will end in Aesopian fashion,” wrote Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief for The Dispatch, in a social media post on X. “Candace is the scorpion.”

For some leaders in the Republican Party, however, the meeting was seen as an opportunity to squash the two right-wing influencers’ dispute as inter-party fights within the GOP grow more commonplace.

“I pray that peace, reason, and love will prevail,” wrote Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in a social media post on X in response to the news.
