Amy Schumer, 44, is still living with her estranged husband Chris Fischer, 45,as she wants him to be “super involved” in the day-to-day care of their young son Gene, Page Six is told.
“She expects that they’ll co-parent full-time together and that he’ll see Gene almost as much as he does now — if not more,” said a close source, “They are still largely under the same roof, for the kid’s sake.”
The couple have been living together in their Brooklyn Heights townhouse, but Schumer sold it last week for $11 million — roughly $1.25 million below the price she paid for the property in 2022.
The “Trainwreck” star put the house, immortalized in the movie “Moonstruck”, on the market back in March, revealing she was moving back to Manhattan as Gene, 6, had gotten into a good school.
No matter where they end up relocating, the source said that co-parenting peacefully is a priority.
“She wants them to continue to be very much united when it comes to raising their son,” the source said, noting that the family has always had nannies and will continue to do so.
“Amy wants Chris to stick around for Gene … If she contemplates another comedy tour at any point in the future, she wants Chris to be the one looking after Gene and ideally be willing to travel with her,” the source added. “She just never wants to be romantically involved with him again.”
On Friday night, Schumer confirmed the split on Instagram. Page Six had reported earlier this month that their marriage was beyond saving.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time,” she wrote in a lengthy caption on Instagram, beneath a photo of her sitting next to Fischer on the subway.
Schumer has recently lost about 50 pounds using Mounjaro, but she noted in the social media post that the split wasn’t related to her slimming down.
“Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket ball [sic] player and not because he’s a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” she added.
The Emmy Award-winner married the chef in February 2018 and they welcomed their son in May 2018. Schumer has been candid in talking about her marriage over the years, incorporating Fischer in some of her comedy work. During her 2019 Netflix special, “Growing,” she revealed he was on the autism spectrum.
“I knew from the beginning that my husband’s brain was a little different than mine,” Schumer says in the special. “My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger’s. He has autism spectrum disorder. He’s on the spectrum.”
Schumer’s real-life marriage paralleled that of her character’s in season two of her Hulu show, “Life & Beth.” Her husband on the series, John, played by Michael Cera, is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
“We really wanted to be respectful and show that, when we talk about the spectrum, what that word means,” Schumer told the Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a wide spectrum, and this is part of it that you don’t often get to see: a super high-functioning person. And that that’s not what defines him.”
