The Issue: President Trump’s affordability-focused campaign following GOP losses in recent elections.
The word that President Trump will have to embrace during the rest of his speaking tour is empathy (“Fixing Joe’s money mess,” Dec. 10)
All the statistics he cites to show how the economy is doing so much better will not win over the many who are struggling. People are just not feeling it, and don’t need to be told differently.

“Affordability” is the political buzzword of the week. Everything’s “too expensive” and the politician who can promise the lowest prices gets the brass ring at the carnival.
What exactly can people not afford, and who can’t afford it? Where is it happening? Everything is always happening somewhere else, and yet the mainstream media would have you believe that it’s everywhere.

President Trump’s comments in Pennsylvania last week show how out-of-touch he is with the average American. Families can’t afford homes. Feeding a family and paying household bills is becoming more difficult every day.
Trump thinks he’s a superstar and sees himself as infallible — yet hogs like him make it very hard for “the little guy” to have any hope.
I voted Republican in 2024. I can’t imagine voting for the GOP again.

While I read about the “affordability” debate, I’m astonished that the GOP misses the two biggest factors for the high cost of living, one being housing costs, and the other the mostly hidden cost of government: taxes.
For example, New Jersey has extremely high property taxes, which in my case, are about 10% of my income.
There’s also an opportunity tax on every person in this country for the excessive cost of government and the horrendous use of capital.
Wake up, GOP.

Trump is again on the campaign trail to save the House in 2026 from the angry Democrats.
This will be a difficult task, since his 10 months in office really haven’t brought any economic recovery to the struggling American people, even though he insists we’re doing quite well.

The Issue: The arrest of the alleged 2021 pipe bomber suspect after more than four years.
You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that once the Biden administration and the FBI realized that the alleged J6 pipe bomber probably was not some “MAGA white supremacist,” they lost interest in the investigation (“Dropping call and the ball,” Miranda Devine, Dec. 8).
Those who are responsible should be held accountable.

Jake Tapper falsely saying the pipe bomber was a white man underscores what’s wrong with today’s media. The alleged criminal’s race is not relevant.
The news is that the FBI identified and captured this alleged criminal after nearly five years and that he will hopefully be serving time for his illegal actions.

No matter how many excuses idiots like Sen. Mark Warner make to take away credit from the Trump administration for finding the 2021 pipe-bomber suspect, the fact is that President Joe Biden’s FBI and Department of Justice couldn’t find this guy for four years while President Trump’s team did it in under a year.
Why? The DOJ and FBI under Biden were led by complete political hacks like Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray. Now we have a real DOJ and FBI run by Pam Bondi and Kash Patel.
