Police have taken a person of interest into custody after a shooting at Brown University killed two and injured nine, according to the mayor of Providence, Rhode Island. Brett Smiley (D) said a shelter-in-place order was lifted as of Sunday morning. A gunman opened fire inside a campus engineering building on Saturday before fleeing, authorities said, prompting hundreds of officers to conduct a sprawling overnight manhunt. Smiley did not provide further details on the person of interest or the investigation.
