How Kate Middleton honored late cancer patients at London’s Ever After Garden

Kate Middleton recently visited a charitable art installation and left a personal note to honor those who have lost their lives to cancer.

The Princess of Wales visited London’s Ever After Garden, which raises funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and shared a clip of her time spent there via InstagramSaturday.

In the video, her handwritten note that was left nestled in the garden reads, “In loving memory of all those who have lost their lives to cancer – C.”

Middleton, 43, also wrote a heartfelt caption for the video, where she thanked “all of those who have contributed to the Ever After Garden.”

“Every flower, every light, is a memory held together, an illumination of shared love, remembrance, and hope,” she concluded, signing off with her first initial.

This is a cause close to Middleton’s heart as she is a cancer survivor herself. She revealed her diagnosis in March 2024 and also announced she had begun the early stages of chemotherapy treatment.

Palace sources told Page Six at the time that Middleton and husband Prince William had wanted to keep the information private until their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — had had time to “understand and process the news before it was made public.”

By that September, Middleton completed her “incredibly tough” cancer treatment.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she wrote via X at the time.

“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

The princess has never revealed the specific type or stage of cancer she had and mostly kept her journey private, but in December 2024, she said she was “grateful” for all of her supporters and hugged a fellow cancer patient in a rare moment.

In January, Middleton revealed the good news that she is in remission.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she began in her emotional Instagram post.

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside [Prince] William and me as we have navigated everything.”

“My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she wrote.

“Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she concluded, signing off with her first initial.
