President Donald Trumplashed out at the leader of Indiana’s Senate in a new social media post on Wednesday for holding up his election scheme to win the 2026 midterms.
Trump called out Indiana Senate Pro Tempore Rod Bray, a Republican, in a Truth Social post over his resistance to Trump’s redistricting plan. Trump claimed in the post that other Republican-controlled legislatures have gone along with the redistricting efforts “willingly, openly, and easily.”
“Indiana Senate ‘Leader’ Rod Bray enjoys being the only person in the United States of America who is against Republicans picking up extra seats, in Indiana’s case, two of them,” Trump wrote in the post. “He is putting every ounce of his limited strength into asking his soon to be very vulnerable friends to vote with him.”
“By doing so, he is putting the Majority in the House of Representatives, Washington, D.C., at risk and, at the same time, putting anybody in Indiana who votes against this Redistricting, likewise, at risk,” the post continued. “The people of Indiana don’t want the Party of Sleepy Joe Biden, Kamala, Ilhan Omar, or the rest to succeed in Washington.”
“Bray doesn’t care,” the post added. “He’s either a bad guy, or a very stupid one! In any event, he and a couple of his friends will partner with the Radical Left Democrats.”
Last month, Indiana Republicans rebuffed Trump’s pressure campaign to get them to change the state’s electoral map ahead of the 2026 election. Other Republican-controlled states like Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina have approved new maps favoring the GOP.
This month, the proposed congressional map, aimed at creating a 9-0 Republican advantage, advanced through the House on a 57-41 vote, but faces uncertainty in the Senate.
California countered these efforts by redrawing its map in a way that negates the seats the GOP stands to gain in Texas. Other Democratic states like Maryland and Virginia are considering drawing new maps, according to an analysis by NPR.
