The Lexus SUV that Karen Read was driving the night she was accused of mowing down her Boston cop boyfriend in 2022 is going up for auction next month.
Read, 45, was at the center of a whirlwind trial over the summer, where she was found not guilty of running over and killing her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, 46, with the very car that will soon be sold to the highest bidder.

Read, an equity analyst, accused several people, including swaths of law enforcement officers, of trying to frame her.
Her case was closely followed by the media and even sparked multiple podcast series, garnering followers and fans across the country. Intrigue skyrocketed even further after her 2024 trial was declared a mistrial.
In her summer retrial, Read was acquitted of all charges except operating under the influence of alcohol. She received a lenient sentence of just one year of probation, much to the relief of her rabid fanbase.

When O’Keefe died, Read’s 2021 Lexus LX 570 was towed to the Canton Police Department garage as evidence. It was remanded to the Massachusetts State Police, who retained possession of it until Read filed for it to be returned after the trial wrapped.
When the SUV was returned to Read, it was in desperate need of repairs. She had it detailed — and then prepared for auction through JJManning Auctioneers, CBS News reported.
No exact date has been announced for the highly anticipated auction, but it’s supposed to take place sometime in January in Massachusetts, the outlet reported.
Read is still in the crosshairs of a civil lawsuit O’Keefe’s family filed against her.

But she has meanwhile pivoted to suing key investigators and witnesses who testified against her, including the since-axed lead investigator Michael Proctor and his former supervisors, Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik and Lt. Brian Tully.
Proctor was canned between the first and second trial after he was caught snooping for nudes on Read’s phone and sending vulgar texts degrading her as a “wack job c–t.”
When O’Keefe was found dead at a fellow Boston cop’s home in Canton, Mass. on Jan. 29, 2022, Read was accused of backing her SUV up into him and leaving him to die out in the cold.

The couple, who had a tempestuous relationship, had gotten into a drunken argumentearlier that night before she dropped him off at the party.
Her defense claimed that O’Keefe’s fatal injury, a skull fracture, was inconsistent with a vehicle strike on a pedestrian.
The prosecution’s witnesses, though, claimed they overheard a distraught Read repeatedly muttering “I hit him”when O’Keefe was found dead.
In her first statement to her obsessed supporters outside the courthouse after the not guilty verdict, Read brazenly claimed that “no one has fought harder for justice for John O’Keefe” than she had.
