Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) dipped into her campaign funds to attend a concert hosted by MAGA artist Kid Rock, amid ongoing rumors that the two are dating, The Daily Beast reported Wednesday.
“The Colorado congresswoman attended Rock N Rodeo — a May 16 event hosted by the 54-year-old singer — during the Professional Bull Riding Championship World Finals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas,” reported Adam Downer. “Boebert, 38, even reposted a photo of herself in a cowboy hat cozying up to the rocker at the rodeo-meets-concert experience.”
Her post was accompanied by the message “Making America GREAT Again.”
According to the report, “Federal Election Committee data shows that three days after the event, the Republican representative’s campaign paid $2,455.83 to ‘Live by Loews,’ a hotel in Arlington, Texas, as well as $925 worth of ‘Event Tickets’ to AT&T Stadium.”
This would appear to run afoul of federal laws that bar candidates for office from personal use of campaign funds — something for which many members of Congress have been criminally prosecuted in recent years, although Trump issued pardons for a number of them.
This comes amid swirling rumors that Boebert and Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, are dating, which began with the two of them being seen getting in a cab together at a Feb. 11 post-inauguration party thrown by the right-wing group Turning Point USA.
Neither Boebert nor Ritchie has confirmed the rumors, and in response to questioning from TMZ, Boebert said, “Y’all with all your stories, Mom won’t stop asking for concert tickets, so, that’s the problem I’m facing now,” per the report.
Boebert divorced her husband, Jayson, in 2023, and came under controversy later that year after she was ejected from a “Beetlejuice” musical production in Denver for fondling her then-boyfriend in public.
The divorce appeared to have significantly impacted her finances, as a federal disclosure earlier this year had her disclosing zero assets. The disclosure indicated she was one of the poorest members of Congress.
