Authorities identified a body found in College Park as a 14-year-old from D.C. Prince George’s County police are investigating the death as a homicide, county police said Friday.
Officials identified the teen as Jefferson Amaya-Ayala.
A law enforcement task force discovered what appeared to be human remains in Indian Creek Stream Valley Park on Nov. 3 while investigating a missing persons report, county police said.
The remains were sent to the Maryland medical examiner’s office, which ruled the case a homicide, police said. Prince George’s County police declined to release the manner of death Friday, citing the ongoing investigation.
D.C. police said Jefferson was reported missing August 3. He was last seen the day before in the 1400 block of Sheridan Street NW.
