A man who stabbed his father to death during an argument was shot and killed by police early Wednesday in Lake Balboa.
Police arrived at the home on the 17200 block of Valerio Street at 8:10 AM after getting a report of a man with a mental illness acting erratically towards his father, LAPD said.

Officers were met by the man’s brother on arrival who said he had a history of violence towards his parents and had stabbed his father and assaulted his mother eight years earlier, police said.
Police went into the home and found the man in his father’s bedroom lying on top of his dad and holding what looked like a knife, police said.
After the man ignored officers and proceeded to stab his father, police opened fire on the suspect, cops said.

The father and son were both pronounced dead at the scene and a pair of scissors was recovered from the scene that were used in the assault, police confirmed.
