Shaggy dishes on his new album featuring Sting, Robin Thicke and more

So that’s why he’s called Shaggy.

The famed reggae singer tells Page Six “you can make love to” his new album.

The “Boombastic” star is about to release his first album in six years, “Lottery,” telling us: “You can dance to it, you can cry to it, you can get ready to it. You know what I mean? You can make love to it.”

The album, dropping in March, features Sting, Robin Thicke, Akon, Jeremiah and Anthony Hamilton, he told us before performing to a hyped-up crowd at BitBasel in Miami during Art Week.

“I don’t like cookie cutting,” he told us.  “So it’s that Shaggy sound that you’re used to, which is fun. You know, it brings joy, it makes you smile, and it’s got that reggae beat, and it’s got that fusion beat. Hybrids are what I’m into. I’m the king of hybrids.”

The singer took the stage at the event at the Sagamore belting out hits like “It Wasn’t Me,” “Angel,” and “Boombastic,” and previewed some of the new songs.

Shaggy was most recently seen at the Macy’s Day Parade on the Jennie-O Big Turkey Spectacular float.

He says he had a blast, but that he should have “worn long johns.”

“I should have had at least a beanie and earmuffs,” he told us. “I’m out there and it’s hitting me, I’m like, ‘I really under prepared for this, but I’m looking good.’ I was freezing.”

Next, he’ll be at the Jamaica Strong benefit concert, to help raise money for the island following Hurricane Melissa.

Next summer, the reggae star will be taking the stage along with his friend and frequent collaborator Sting, as the British rock star brings his musical “The Last Ship” to the Metropolitan Opera House in June.

“I’ve never done theater like that before, but Sting has a way of seeing things in me that I don’t even see,” Shaggy told us of his upcoming role in the show as the Ferryman.

When it comes to his friendship with Sting, who he won a Grammy with for their 2019 collaborative album “44/876,” Shaggy told us, “It just works. I don’t know why it works. He’s the brother I never knew I needed. We always have fun. One thing for sure, whatever we do, there is a laugh.”
