‘Targeted shooting’ in Maryland casino food court leaves one dead, suspect on loose

A man was gunned down at MGM National Harbor Hotel & Casino just outside Washington, DC, Wednesday afternoon in what cops called a “targeted shooting.”

The attack unfolded just before noon at the food court of the $1.4 billion Maryland casino on the banks of the Potomac.

Prince George’s County cops confirmed the shooting at a press conference, and said the victim was a male believed to be in his 20s.

Police said the gunman — who remains at large — “chased down” the victim before he shot him, and “seemed to know where the victim was.”

Area schools were briefly locked down while investigators worked to determine if there was any threat to the community, fearing the suspect may have fled on foot, but they were reopened once they determined he escaped in a car.

The casino remained open despite the shooting.
