GOP headed for ‘electoral wipeout’ as they ‘repel the voters they need’ most: ex-insider

‘Rifts piling up’: GOP lawmakers increasingly seen ‘spurning’ Trump on ‘a lot’ of issues

The one thing that has helped Republicans win in the past is now threatening their success at the polls, according to a former Republican insider.

Kurt Bardella, a former staffer for Republican Senator Olympia Snowe and Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, appeared on NewsNation to discuss how going “full MAGA” isn’t “the advantage it was” in some prior elections.

“Part of the thing is the immigration enforcement aspect has hurt the economy some could say, and certainly the electoral success that Republicans enjoyed with Latino voters in 2024, well the immigration enforcement mechanism now is actually eroding that goodwill support that he had with those voters,” he said. “It’s not an accident that when you look at all the public polling that’s been done over the last 30 days, Donald Trump and Republicans are hemorrhaging with independent voters big time.”

He added that, “This stuff plays well with the MAGA base,” but that “the MAGA base doesn’t decide the outcome of elections, especially midterm elections.”

For that, he says, Republicans need the voters they “are losing right now.”

“Going hard line on immigration and crime isn’t going to get the job done. It’s going to repel the voters they need,” Bardella added.

On social media, Bardella shared the video and wrote, “Unlike 2024, the Trump immigration and crime policies are now going to repel the voters Republicans need to win in 2026.”

“Going full-MAGA will result in an electoral wipeout,” he concluded on X on Saturday.
