CLEVELAND BROWNS (+5.5) over San Francisco 49ers
Record aside, the Browns’ defense is ridiculous.
Cleveland throttled Geno Smith and the Raiders last week, and they’re heading home, where they play best, on Sunday for a bout against the 49ers.
It didn’t go well last time Brock Purdy and Co. came to Cleveland in 2023.
Purdy completed just 44.4 percent of his passes in that game, which is the lowest full-game rate of his career, for only 125 yards while getting sacked three times and intercepted once during the 19-17 loss.
He’ll come into this game having not looked his best against a much-worse Panthers defense on Monday night, throwing three picks.
The Browns have been a different team at Huntington Bank Field, getting two of their three wins at home while keeping the rest of their games in Cleveland close, losing one-score games to the Bengals, Ravens, and Vikings.
In his first NFL start against the Raiders, Shedeur Sanders looked surprisingly competent.
While he isn’t going to win the game for them, the Browns’ defense should do enough to keep it close for Sanders.

TENNESSEE TITANS (+6.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars
The Titans didn’t look half bad on Sunday.
As a massive underdog, Tennessee fell to the Seahawks by less than a touchdown after a late-game run led by Cam Ward, who played perhaps the best game of his young career.
The Jaguars got in the win column, but it wasn’t pretty, beating the Cardinals in overtime after catching several breaks throughout the contest.

With four other one-score wins this season, it was far from the first time the Jaguars won a game they might not have deserved.
Their records are wildly different, but these two teams are a bit closer on paper than the spread would suggest.
Bet the Jags’ Houdini act to be cut short on Sunday.
LAST WEEK: 1-1.
