A loyal MAGA mom in South Florida is circulating a petition to create a new county and name it after her favorite president, according to a new report.
Jen Herold, 40, is circulating a petition to link the northern point of Anastasia Island to the southern end of Ponce Inlet and create Florida’s 68th county, dubbed “Trump County,” according to a report by The Daily Mail. The report added that the new county would include “unincorporated Flagler Beach, where Herold lives with her family, as well as Beverly Beach, Daytona Beach, and part of St Augustine.”
“President Trump is a once-in-a-generation leader, a master dealmaker, real estate titan, and the greatest president of our time,” the petition read in part. “As the first president to call Florida home, it’s time we honor his extraordinary legacy by establishing Florida’s 68th county: Trump County – a lasting testament to his impact on our state and nation.”
The petition could put Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican and Trump ally, in a difficult position, according to the report. If it gains enough signatures, the state’s legislature would be forced to consider it. The report speculates that if it passes Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature, then DeSantis would have an opportunity to sign it.
