FBI has ID’d suspect in shooting of 2 National Guard troops: report

The FBI has identified the shooter who shot two National Guard troops on Wednesday, CNN’s chief legal and national security correspondent John Miller reported on Wednesday evening.

The shooter’s identity has not yet been made public. Initial reports indicate that the shooter did not have identity documents with him when he was captured.

Two Guardsmen were shot and critically wounded in Farragut Square in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon, which is less than a quarter of a mile from the White House. Officials have released little information about the shooter other than that they assume he acted alone.

Both troops remain in critical condition, according to reports.

The shooter ambushed the troops at the corner of 17th St. NW and I St. NW, authorities said. The shooter was injured as he was arrested by police and other National Guard troops.
