‘Incompetent kook!’ Trump lawyer catches heat for cheering high-profile court losses

President Donald Trump’s assistant attorney general for the DOJ’s civil rights division caught heat from political observers and analysts on Monday after she appeared to celebrate a pair of high-profile court losses.

U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie tossed out the Trump administration’s prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan was illegally serving in office. Currie wrote in his opinion that Halligan’s actions were “unlawful exercises of executive power and are hereby set aside.”

Currie also dismissed the cases without prejudice, meaning the government can refile the charges at a later date. Some legal experts have questioned whether that would be feasible in Comey’s case because the statute of limitations appears to have passed.

“WITHOUT PREJUDICE!” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon posted on X, in reference to the cases.

Political analysts and observers bashed Dhillon’s comments on social media.

“Not quite the flex this incompetent kook thinks it is,” Jeff Timmer of The Lincoln Project posted on X.

“This is how Harmeet, who f—– up the TX redistricting case so much Ken Paxton had to laugh at her, responds to Pam Bondi f—— up the Comey and James cases so badly that they were unnecessarily dismissed,” journalist Marcy Wheeler posted on X. “A real failing downward crowd in this anti-DEI Administration.”

“STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS!” lawyer Aaron Parnas posted on X.
