A US veteran is chasing down ICE agents on a scooter to batter their morale as raids sweep the country.
Clifford “Buzz” Grambo has shared the “breaking point” that led him to follow ICE agents, who have ramped up their arrest numbers in recent months. Speaking to Mother Jones, the US veteran said he believes the lack of Republican outcry over the travel ban of Trump’s first term led to his disillusionment with the GOP.
“None of the Republicans spoke up about it, and that was my breaking point. I was just like, this judging people based on their religion, that’s not America.”
Grambo would go on to say the Republican Party was now “irredeemable” and called the difference between the Democrats and Republicans a matter of “a democracy party and a fascist party.”
The US veteran carries a whistle and a bodycam to record the encounters with ICE agents in his home city of Baltimore, with Grambo saying he will continue his protests. He said, “If you’re going to tell me I can’t do it, I’m going to do it even louder.” Recording the ICE agents, Grambo believes, is a way of affecting their morale.
Isabela Dias, who profiled Grambo, wrote, “‘Hey, don’t run, we got you on camera,’ Grambo shouted as the agents appeared to get ready to leave. He stood in front of one of their cars and told the men to take their masks off. ‘You have an oath to the Constitution,’ he pressed. ‘What did you take an oath to?’ The car then raced away with its sirens on. For a little while, Grambo continued to follow them, this time on foot.”
Grambo believes confronting the ICE agents will lower their morale and thus create an “ineffective” rollout from the squads. He said, “I want their morale as low as possible because a team with low morale is ineffective.”
Stand-offs between ICE and communities across the country are cropping up frequently. Chicago has stood against the recent ICE raids, with Raw Story reporting on a collection of groups who had successfully protested the Trump administration’s crackdown.
